Jazz Beyond Frontiers – Μουσικές που Ενώνουν Κόσμους
Η τζαζ πέρα από σύνορα επιστρέφει στην Αθήνα – Μια μουσική συνάντηση πολιτισμών, αυτοσχεδιασμού και σύγχρονης δημιουργίας στο Θέατρο Πέτρας.
Μετά την επιτυχημένη πρώτη του παρουσίαση το 2024, το Jazzèt – Hellenic International Jazz Festival επιστρέφει δυναμικά για δεύτερη συνεχή χρονιά, στις 20, 21 και 22 Ιουλίου 2025, στο εμβληματικό Θέατρο Πέτρας.
Το φεστιβάλ που φιλοδοξεί να γίνει το νέο σημείο αναφοράς της τζαζ στην Αθήνα, συνεχίζει την πορεία του με έμφαση στην ένωση μουσικών κουλτουρών φέρνοντας κοντά ήχους, ρυθμούς και ανθρώπους από την Ελλάδα, την ευρύτερη περιφέρεια και τον κόσμο.
Με το φετινό του μότο "Jazz Beyond Frontiers", το Jazzèt Festival δηλώνει τη θέση του: η τζαζ είναι παγκόσμια, ελεύθερη, χωρίς σύνορα, και μπορεί να ενώνει. Μουσικοί και σχήματα από διάφορα σημεία του πλανήτη δημιουργούν ένα τριήμερο γιορτής, πολυπολιτισμικής έκφρασης και μαγείας στην καρδιά του καλοκαιριού.

BAG of NAILS (ΕΛΛΑΔΑ) - Κυριακή 20/7 (21:00)
Την Κυριακή 20 Ιουλίου, το φεστιβάλ ανοίγουν οι “Bag of Nails”. Με αφετηρία την αγάπη τους για τα blues, πατώντας στέρεα πάνω σε αυτά, οι Bag of Nails είναι μια απ’ τις πιο ελπιδοφόρες μπάντες. Καταφέρνουν να παντρέψουν αυτή την αυθεντική «πηγή της μουσικής» με το rock των 60’s και των 70’s, σε ένα διαχρονικό άκουσμα. Γιατί... έχουν τον λύκο μέσα τους!
Η μπάντα, με το άλμπουμ «The wolf inside me» ξεκίνησε ένα μουσικό οδοιπορικό από τους αγροτικούς οικισμούς στα περίχωρα της γενέτειρας των blues, της Νέας Ορλεάνης, το ηλεκτρισμένο Σικάγο, το βιομηχανικό Ντιτρόιτ και το Μέμφις, μέχρι τον Άγιο Γεώργιο Βοιωτίας. Ένα μικρό χωριό κάπου 100 χιλιόμετρα από την Αθήνα, όπου ο leader τους Πάνος Κατσικογιάννης ζει μόνιμα και δουλεύει ως αγρότης, δίπλα στον μουσικόφιλο πατέρα του, κι ας σπούδασε μηχανολόγος μηχανικός στο Πολυτεχνείο.
Το νέο τους album «Back to the same ol’ place», ηχογραφήθηκε ζωντανά και 100% αναλογικά αποτυπώνοντας την ακατέργαστη ενέργεια της μπάντας τους στο απόλυτο.
Αυτοδίδακτοι και οι τρεις από τη μέρα που η μουσική μπήκε στη ζωή τους, ο Πάνος Κ. ντύνει τις συνθέσεις του με την χαρακτηριστική χροιά και την βαριά προφορά της δυνατής φωνής του, που ταιριάζει άψογα με την εκφραστική αγριάδα της ηλεκτρικής του κιθάρας. Δίπλα του τα ιπτάμενα πλήκτρα του Θάνου Ζ. και τα power ντραμς του Ηλία Κ. σ’ ένα rhythm n’ blues χωρίς όρια.
ESPEN BERG TRIO (ΝΟΡΒΗΓΙΑ) - Κυριακή 20/7 (22:00)
Το Espen Berg Trio, μία από τις πιο δυναμικές φωνές της σύγχρονης τζαζ, φέρνει το ξεχωριστό σκανδιναβικό ηχόχρωμα στο παγκόσμιο τζαζ σκηνικό. Η μουσική του τρίο συνδυάζει μελωδίες με σύνθετους ρυθμούς, εξαιρετική τεχνική και τη μοναδική τους σκηνική αλληλεπίδραση, προσφέροντας μια φρέσκια προσέγγιση στην παράδοση του piano trio και της σκανδιναβικής τζαζ. Το πολυβραβευμένο τρίο του Espen Berg, με τις sold out εμφανίσεις του σε όλο τον κόσμο και τις κριτικές που το τοποθετούν στα κορυφαία συγκροτήματα της τζαζ σήμερα, έχει κατακτήσει διεθνή αναγνώριση.
Ο Νορβηγός Espen Berg, αναγνωρισμένος ως ένας πραγματικός μάστερ του πιάνου απ’ το All About Jazz, έχει τιμηθεί με τη μεγαλύτερη τζαζ υποτροφία της χώρας του και το 2023 ανακηρύχθηκε ως επίσημος Steinway Artist. Πρόσφατα παρουσίασε το έργο του «Water Fabric», που δημιούργησε για σημαντικά παγκόσμια φεστιβάλ. Με έντονη παρουσία στην Ιαπωνία, όλη την Ευρώπη και στην Ινδία, έχει κυκλοφορήσει τέσσερα άλμπουμ με το τρίο του (B. R. Poulsen- κοντραμπάσο και Simon Albertsen τύμπανα) ενώ το «Free to Play» του 2019 ξεχώρισε ως ένα από τα καλύτερα άλμπουμ της χρονιάς.
NORTH SIDE TRIO (ΕΛΛΑΔΑ) - Δευτέρα 21/7 (20:30)
Στο πλαίσιο του προγράμματος “New Jazz Artists” του φετινού Jazzèt Festival, που δίνει βήμα στις πιο υποσχόμενες νέες φωνές της σύγχρονης ελληνικής jazz σκηνής, οι North Side Trio κάνουν την πρώτη τους εμφάνιση στο φεστιβάλ, παρουσιάζοντας ένα ζωντανό, απρόβλεπτο και γεμάτο ένταση μουσικό set.
Με πολυετή εμπειρία και συμμετοχή σε σημαντικά σχήματα και projects, οι τρεις του North Side Trio ενώνουν τις διαφορετικές τους καταβολές σε μια καλλιτεχνική σύμπραξη που ξεχωρίζει για τον αυθορμητισμό και την έντονη αίσθηση του groove. Μετά από μια περίοδο δημιουργικού πειραματισμού σε δρόμους, πλατείες και τα underground στέκια των βορείων προαστίων, οι North Side Trio (Tommy Lynch – σαξόφωνα, Αλέξανδρος Τζιόβας – κοντραμπάσο και Δημήτρης Κοντός – τύμπανα), φέρνουν στο φεστιβάλ το ανεπιτήδευτο ηχητικό τους αποτύπωμα, που κινείται με άνεση ανάμεσα στη jazz και το hip hop fusion, τη μαύρη αμερικανική παράδοση και τη σύγχρονη ευρωπαϊκή jazz.
ENOSIS QUARTET (ΣΟΥΗΔΙΑ/ΦΙΛΑΝΔΙΑ/ΕΛΛΑΔΑ) - Δευτέρα 21/7 (21:00)
Με ρίζες στη Φινλανδία, τη Σουηδία και την Ελλάδα, το “Enosis” είναι ένα διεθνές μουσικό εγχείρημα που επιδιώκει τη σύζευξη πολιτισμών και την εξερεύνηση μιας νέας, αυθεντικής μουσικής ταυτότητας, εμπνευσμένης από τη μοντέρνα jazz, αλλά και από την παράδοση. Η μουσική τους συνδυάζει τον αυτοσχεδιασμό, προσωπικές επιρροές και στοιχεία παραδοσιακής μουσικής, δημιουργώντας έναν πολυφωνικό, δυναμικό ήχο και αποτυπώνοντας τη σημασία της ενότητας, μέσα από την τέχνη.
Το “Enosis Quartet”, οι Orfeas Wardig Tsoukalas (σαξόφωνο), Θοδωρής Κότσυφας (κιθάρα), Oli Rantala (κοντραμπάσο) και Johan Birgenius (τύμπανα) εξερευνά μια μοναδική σύζευξη πολιτισμών και μουσικών παραδόσεων, μέσα από την σύγχρονη jazz αισθητική. Η μοναδικότητα κάθε μέλους συνθέτει ένα ενιαίο και πολυδιάστατο μουσικό σύνολο.
HUMAN TOUCH (ΕΛΛΑΔΑ) - Δευτέρα 21/7 (22:00)
Με πολυετή και καταξιωμένη παρουσία στην ελληνική και διεθνή σκηνή, οι Human Touch έχουν κερδίσει το σεβασμό και την αγάπη κοινού και κριτικών, αποτελώντας ένα από τα πιο επιδραστικά και καινοτόμα σχήματα της σύγχρονης jazz. Η μουσική τους, χαρακτηρίζεται από έντονο συναίσθημα, ενορχηστρωτική πολυπλοκότητα και μια αίσθηση αυθεντικότητας που καθηλώνει.
Οι Human Touch με τους τρεις πολυδιάστατους μουσικούς David Lynch, Σταύρο Λάντσια και Γιώτη Κιουρτσόγλου, θα παρουσιάσουν ζωντανά το νέο τους άλμπουμ “Colorblind”. Γιατί colorblind σημαίνει να βλέπεις πέρα από χρώματα ή ταμπέλες στη μουσική, στη ζωή, στους ανθρώπους. Είναι μια δημιουργία που υπερβαίνει τα σύνορα της «παραδοσιακής» jazz, συνδυάζοντας τις διαφορετικές μουσικές γλώσσες.
Αναγνωρισμένοι για τον ξεχωριστό ήχο τους, τη δεμένη χημεία και τις διεθνείς τους συνεργασίες, οι Human Touch συνεχίζουν να επαναπροσδιορίζουν τη σύγχρονη jazz σκηνή με αυθεντικότητα, ελευθερία και βαθύ συναίσθημα.
LEFTERIS CHRISTOFIS TRIO (ΕΛΛΑΔΑ) - Τρίτη 22/7 (21:00)
Το τρίο του Λευτέρη Χριστοφή με τους Λάκη Τζήμκα και Κώστα Αναστασιάδη, παρουσιάζει πρωτότυπες συνθέσεις με έμφαση στον αυτοσχεδιασμό, το fusion ιδίωμα και τον μεσογειακό ήχο. Με δεξιοτεχνία, πολυετή εμπειρία και κοινή καλλιτεχνική αντίληψη, οι τρεις κορυφαίοι μουσικοί δημιουργούν ένα πλούσιο ηχητικό τοπίο, προσφέροντας μια δυναμική, αυθεντική, σύγχρονη fusion jazz.
Ο Λευτέρης Χριστοφής, καλλιτεχνικός διευθυντής του φεστιβάλ, χαιρετίζει το κοινό και ως μουσικός, με 40 χρόνια παρουσίας επί σκηνής και δικές του μουσικές. Έχει διακριθεί για το ιδιαίτερο προσωπικό του ύφος, γνωστό και ως Grecian Guitar Style και είναι καλλιτέχνης της Blue Note Records και Benedetto Guitar Artist, ενώ έχει εμφανιστεί σε σημαντικές σκηνές, στην Ευρώπη και την Αμερική, με πιο πρόσφατη τη συμμετοχή του στο «Tribute to the Life and Legacy of Pat Martino», στις ΗΠΑ.
Δίπλα του, δύο από τους πιο καταξιωμένους Έλληνες μουσικούς: ο Λάκης Τζήμκας, με το μοναδικό ηχητικό στίγμα και τη μακρά εμπειρία σε διεθνείς συνεργασίες, και ο δεξιοτέχνης ντράμερ Κώστας Αναστασιάδης, - γνωστός για την εκρηκτική ενέργειά του πάνω στη σκηνή. Μια συναυλία όπου η ελευθερία του αυτοσχεδιασμού συναντά τη μουσική συνοχή, δημιουργώντας ένα ηχητικό τοπίο με μεσογειακή ψυχή.
DWIKI DHARMAWAN’S ATHENIAN ENSEMBLE feat. GILAD ATZMON (ΙΝΔΟΝΗΣΙΑ/ΕΛΛΑΔΑ/
Ένα διαπολιτισμικό μουσικό ταξίδι όπου η πνευματικότητα της Ανατολής συναντά την ελευθερία της σύγχρονης τζαζ. Ο διεθνώς αναγνωρισμένος Ινδονήσιος πιανίστας και συνθέτης Dwiki Dharmawan, γνωστός ως πρέσβης της τζαζ της νοτιοανατολικής Ασίας, παρουσιάζει στην Αθήνα το Athenian Ensemble του: ένα ξεχωριστό project με κορυφαίους Έλληνες αυτοσχεδιαστές μουσικούς, και τον πολυσχιδή πολυπνευστό πολίτη του κόσμου, τον σπουδαίο σαξοφωνίστα και συγγραφέα Gilad Atzmon.
Η συνεργασία τους φέρνει μια μοναδική σύζευξη πολιτισμών και μουσικών γλωσσών όπου, η παραδοσιακή μουσική της Ασίας συνυπάρχει δημιουργικά με τη σύγχρονη ευρωπαϊκή τζαζ. Μαζί τους, οι εξαίρετοι Ita Purnamasari (φωνητικά), Dede Yanto (Multi Ethnic Instruments), οι ταλαντούχοι Βύρωνας Ντόλας στην ηλεκτρική κιθάρα και Κίμων Καρούτζος στο κοντραμπάσο, και ο επιδραστικός Νίκος Σιδηροκαστρίτης στα τύμπανα.
Με καριέρα που εκτείνεται σε πάνω από τέσσερις δεκαετίες, ο Dwiki Dharmawan έχει συνεργαστεί με σημαντικούς καλλιτέχνες κι έχει συνεισφέρει καθοριστικά στην προώθηση της ασιατικής τζαζ παγκοσμίως. Η μουσική του συνδυάζει παραδοσιακά ινδονησιακά στοιχεία, με σύγχρονους τζαζ αυτοσχεδιασμούς και πολυπολιτισμικές επιρροές. Μια ξεχωριστή μουσική εμπειρία, που κλείνει ιδανικά το Jazzèt Festival.

Their debut album, The Wolf Inside Me, began a musical journey from the rural outskirts of the birthplace of the blues—New Orleans, electrified Chicago, industrial Detroit and Memphis—all the way to Agios Georgios, a small village near Athens where frontman Panos Katsikogiannis lives and works as a farmer beside his music-loving father, despite having studied mechanical engineering.

After a period of creative experimentation across the streets, squares, and underground venues of Athens’ northern suburbs, North Side Trio (Tommy Lynch – saxophones, Alexandros Tziovas – double bass, and Dimitris Kondos – drums) brings their natural, genre-defying sound that comfortably flows between jazz, hip-hop fusion, African-American tradition, and modern European jazz.

With roots in Finland, Sweden and Greece, Enosis is a multicultural project aimed at uniting cultures and exploring a new, authentic musical identity inspired by modern jazz and folk traditions.

Christofis, celebrating 40 years on stage, is known for his personal Grecian Guitar Style and is a Blue Note Records and Benedetto Guitar Artist. His international appearances include festivals in Europe and the U.S., most recently participating in the Tribute to the Life and Legacy of Pat Martino.
